Before they were world champions, they were kids from eight Alberta towns who barely knew each other.
In this episode of Hall of Teams, host Kirk Jensen takes you inside the 2003 Team Alberta, an inline hockey program that pulled players from Edmonton, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Beaumont, Wetaskiwin, Red Deer, Didsbury and Spruce Grove and forged them into one of the most dominant youth teams on the planet.
This is not just the story of a team. It is the story of how a dynasty is actually built.
From a provincial program with roots stretching back decades, to the five pillars who carried it, to a backseat conversation that changed everything, this is how a group of Alberta kids crossed the border and took down the Michigan machine that had owned the sport for three straight years.
Part One takes you from the beginning to the edge of the team's darkest moment. It ends inside a dressing room in Michigan, with a championship run on the line and a door about to close.
Because dynasties are not born on championship day. They are built in the moments nobody sees.
