Remembering Kris Kristofferson, who died on this day in 2024. As a singer, songwriter, and actor, he brought literary depth, emotional honesty, and an independent spirit to country music.

Born in Texas, Kristofferson followed an unusual path through Oxford University, military service, and Nashville before establishing himself as a songwriter. His compositions, including *Me and Bobby McGee*, *Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down*, and *Help Me Make It Through the Night*, became enduring classics.

He later joined Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Waylon Jennings in the Highwaymen, connecting four major voices of outlaw country. His songs continue to resonate through country, folk, rock, and Americana.
