Angus Young sitting down with MTV in New York, 1983, and immediately correcting the premise of the question. Heavy metal, as a genre, gets associated with something almost operatic — Wagnerian, the interviewer says. Angus just shrugs that off. His stuff is blues. Always was.

Muddy Waters. BB King. Records nobody heard on the radio but were sitting right there in the shops if you knew where to look. The Yardbirds too — Clapton, Beck, Page, all filtering through that household where the radio never turned off and everyone fought over the record player.

Then it gets genuinely funny. Asked what his parents think of AC/DC and heavy metal, Angus doesn't really answer — he just says his mom told him to be home by midnight. Six years ago. And he still hasn't made it back. Delivered completely deadpan, like it's the most normal thing in the world.
