Kris Kristofferson sits down with Dini Petty in 1993 for a rare, unguarded conversation about Janis Joplin, "Me and Bobby McGee," Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and the turbulent life behind the songs. Rhodes Scholar, Army captain, the man who walked away from a West Point teaching post for Nashville.

Then Dini asks about Janis. She was a close friend. She made his song immortal. And there is one thing he says he never got to do.

He talks about the booze, running with the bulls in Pamplona, why Johnny Cash was "violent, self-destructive" and thrilling to watch, and why Bob Dylan is the reason a lot of songwriters are still above ground. And when Dini brings up the Playboy shoot with Sarah Miles, he makes it clear he does not want to talk about it. Then he does.

This interview has not been seen since it first aired.
