Did you know one of country music's biggest hits started with a helicopter landing? In the early 1970s, Kris Kristofferson was still sweeping floors at a Nashville studio, trying to get his songs noticed and getting nowhere. He had Army pilot training, and one day he decided to put it to use. He landed a helicopter in Johnny Cash's yard, right by Old Hickory Lake, and personally handed him a demo tape with "Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down". Cash recorded the song, it climbed the charts, and Kristofferson's career finally took off. A bold, almost reckless move that became one of music's most retold stories.
