Playing "Jack-A-Diamonds" by Waylon Jennings on bass in Rocksmith+.

Recorded July 11, 2026.

"Jack-A-Diamonds" appears on Waylon Jennings’ 1976 album Are You Ready for the Country. Written by Daniel Moore, the song became part of an album that continued Waylon’s run at the center of the outlaw-country movement.

Waylon recorded the track on March 24, 1976, at Sound Labs in Los Angeles. Duke Goff played bass, Richie Albright handled drums, Ralph Mooney played steel guitar and dobro, Barny Robertson played piano, and John Hug joined Waylon on guitar.

The song uses the old "jack of diamonds" gambling image as a symbol of money disappearing and fortunes changing. Waylon turns it into a loose, bluesy country performance that fits comfortably alongside the tougher material from this period of his career.

Are You Ready for the Country reached No. 1 on the country album chart, with Waylon and Ken Mansfield producing the record.
