The Highwaymen tells the Bonnie and Clyde story from the lawmen's side, keeping the outlaw almost entirely off screen so you never have to reckon with what Clyde Barrow actually did. Over two years the Barrow Gang killed around a dozen people, at least nine of them police officers, a cop-killing record that outstrips John Dillinger. This is the real Clyde, from the small-time car thief who walked into Eastham Prison to the man a six-man posse fired 130 rounds into to finally stop.
